Roland Kojetin
Level 2 – Developing Horse Trainer
Roland earned his Level 2 certification after completing the full Smith Horsemanship Academy program, and he’s put in the kind of hours that actually shape a horseman. Over 300 logged hours of supervised handling and training, plus the day-to-day grind of working with real horses, not hypotheticals.
He’s confident on the ground and safe in the saddle, and he’s proven it by helping start two young or untrained horses under supervision. That takes patience, timing, and a willingness to listen to the horse before pushing for answers.
Roland passed his theory and practical assessments with over 60 percent, showing solid understanding and steady application.
He’s committed and dependable with horses that need a thoughtful, structured approach.
We are proud of how far he has come!
My Story
"My passion for horses has always been unwavering and real: I feel at home with them. Their honesty, their energy, the way they reflect you, that’s what keeps me coming back. I’ve always been drawn to that connection. Most of what I know, I learned from the horses themselves. Every horse has their own personality, calm, dramatic, or spicy like a jalapeño with hooves. They taught me patience, timing, and how to slow down so they can meet me where I am. Endurance riding showed me real partnership and grit, while jumping taught me trust, quick thinking, and staying balanced when things get Chaotic. When I work with horses, I like to keep things simple and honest. I pay attention to who the horse is, what scares them, what builds them up, what makes them relax. I focus on confidence first, whether on the ground or in the saddle. No forcing. No big attitude. Just steady communication and a bit of courage. My goal as a rider and trainer is clear: to build confident, willing horses and become someone they can rely on. Soft when I need to be, firm when it counts, and always aiming for calm, real partnership. Everything I do comes back to that, growing with my horses and becoming the kind of person they trust." - Roland Kojetin, 2025
