We don’t.At Smith Horsemanship, we focus on relationship-based training that builds soft, confident, and willing horses, from the inside out. We now offer two options to meet different goals and budgets:
The Full-Year Transformation Program
Duration: 10 Months
Cost: R6,000/month (Livery included)
Who it’s for:
Owners who are serious about doing it properly. This program is for horses that need time, consistency, and correct development, not quick fixes. Ideal for owners who want a soft, confident, versatile horse with a foundation that actually lasts.
This is a commitment to the horse’s long-term progress, mentally and physically.
Training Structure:
Your horse is worked 1 to 2 hours per day, 5 days a week, based on what the horse needs that day. No rushing maturity. No forcing timelines. We let the horse grow into the work.
Training Stages:
Months 1 to 3
Foundation, trust building, groundwork, backing, softness, understanding pressure and release.
Months 4 to 7
Riding development, consistency under saddle, exposure, trail work, obstacles, confidence in varied environments.
Months 8 to 11
Advanced responsiveness, refinement, reliability, polishing basics, and where suitable, preparation toward shows, competitions, or specific disciplines.

The Month to Month Training Program
Duration: Month to month
Cost: R8,000/month (Livery included)
Who is it for: Owners who want consistent, correct training without committing upfront to a long-term program. Ideal for horses that need solid progression, real exposure, and proper handling, not rushed sessions or weekend-only work.
What happens each month:
Your horse is worked into the full Smith Horsemanship training system. No isolation. No shortcuts.

Progressive riding, exposure, and responsiveness based on the horse’s current level

Real-world environments including trails, obstacles, and varied situations

Training adjusted monthly depending on progress, mindset, and goals
